Just after 1200 hours the Truck and Rescue were dispatched to assist 53 on a garage fire at 3145 Main St in Conestoga. 53 units arrived to find a fully involved two story garage with multiple exposures. Unfortunately the prevailing wind forced the flames into the large house in front of it and fire quickly took over that structure as well. Multiple companies worked the apartment building which was separated into 5 apartments and multiple hidden areas in it’s balloon frame constructed structure. Crews worked opening up both inside and out and found pockets of fire throughout the building. After several hours personnel finally gained the upper hand and got the fire under control. Three tower ladders were positioned to work the outside of the building. 50 units cleared the scene just after 1700 hours so we could return for our annual banquet.
A HUGE thanks goes out to the crew from Gap Fire Company that were at our firehouse to standby for us for our banquet. They offered to clean all of our equipment for us so we could get cleaned up ourselves and attend our festivities. This kind of brotherhood is the true meaning of the Fire Service and we greatly appreciate everything they did for us!!
Credit also goes out to the photographers who were on scene and shared their pictures with us!!
